5 days + 2 City Passes = San Francisco funness with my hubby
Friday, July 22, 2011- 6am flight on United to San Francisco to begin our amazing vacation.
After getting our rental car, we began to use our City Pass right away by visiting
the California Academy of Sciences
Once we finished there, we drove around to spare some time until we could
check into the hotel in San Bruno.
So, we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge to a cute little town called
Sausilito.
Saturday, July 23, 2011- We went to Alcatraz Island with a ferry and toured the famous jail on the rock.
After the ferry, we used our City Pass to get into the Aquarium at the Bay.
Since we were at the aquarium, we shopped around at famous
Pier 39.
Sunday, July 24, 2011- Another day to use the City Pass and this time for the
Exploratorium. (I would compare it to the Science Museum we have downtown)
Attached to it, is the Palace of Fine Arts where we enjoyed the weather and ate our lunch.
Then, we drove around in the Presidio for a little bit just enjoying the trees and fresh air with windy roads.
We came across the WWII Memorial overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
We then ended up at Golden Gate Bridge.
Time for some chocolate...where are we?
Ghirardelli Square
We were so full after that we needed to walk around just a little bit.
So we ended up at the Aquatic Park where we saw plenty of people swimming and wind surfing.
We also walked out onto the Municipal Pier.
Monday, July 25, 2011- Time to use our Muni Passport and ride the Cable Cars that we have seen throughout town but could never get on since it was so packed. So we decided to get to a turn point early to even get a chance:)
We took the cable car to the Cable Car Museum where you could see how the whole system is operated.
After, it was a hike to Crooked Street.
Eventually, we made our way back to the pier at Hyde Street and looked at some old boats. My opa had the name on the boat below and had to take a picture:)
Since we needed to take full advantage of our City Pass, we took a bay tour and Dustin had fun using the Panoramic setting on our new camera.
This tour was awesome as we could see the entire bay and get a little history about the bayline, Golden Gate, and other random history facts.
Yes, we actually got to go under the bridge!!
We still had time before we wanted dinner, so we went and toured a submarine USS Pampanito.
Tuesday, July 26, 2011- After checking out of our hotel, returning our car at the airport, and storing our luggage, we still had the entire day to spend in San Francisco...so what do we do...
Chinatown of course!
After touring there, we ended up hiking some steep streets to get to Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower.
One last time down to the Pier and then headed back to the airport.
We stuffed my backpack into Dust's backpack to save on money while storing for the day.
Now it was time to return back home...
So many good memories and am very happy that Dust and I had this time before we both return back to work next week.
